Happy New Year!
This was the best December in a long time. Reed’s excitement for Christmas was enough to make us all feel like little kids again. As I took out Christmas decorations we read “The Night Before Christmas” (and proceeded to read it again and again) and you could just see the understanding of Santa and reindeer take him over. We had our Santa Fly-In at the beginning of the month, we asked him what he would tell Santa he wanted – his response “A garbage truck, a green garbage truck with 2 buttons that goes” Hmmm – Santa would have to work on that one. The Fly-In was exciting, Nate was one of the pilots who flew Santa in, I’m not sure which Reed was more excited about – watching Daddy fly or the fact that Santa was waving from the helicopter. His Christmas was filled with the joy and innocence only a small child can bring – excitement over the tree, how many more days, what will be under the tree on Christmas day, it was wondrous. We spent Christmas afternoon on a hike and ended the day with a small feast (is that an oxy-moron?). Reed and I made a quick trip to Maine to see my family too, alas, it will be my last trip until after the baby is born.
We also finished up one set of swim lessons, and potty trained (yay!) and moved Reed from the nursery into his “big boy room” with new furniture and bedding. He bequeathed his old digs to Moby and helped us set up the crib and work on getting the nursery ready for a baby again. The time is getting near! I am feeling good, great actually, just beginning to feel tired some days and uncomfortably big on others. Nate has been wonderful around the house and is starting on the push to get us organized and purged for the move coming this summer. I love it!
Hope you all had a fun holiday season too. Thank you for all the cards and pictures, we love getting them and catching up on everyone’s lives.
